Title: Brick
The Logline:
A simple 16-year-old boy gets a brick thrown at his head and becomes unbearably intelligent.
Plot summary: the trailer follows the story of two boys, Mikey and Shane. Both are 16 years old and below average in the way of intelligence. The two boys are best friends and do foolish deeds together. On this day, the audience observes the two boys having fun at a construction site smashing cans with hammers. Shane, being the fool he is, decides to blindly toss a brick at Mikey with force. Mikey then gets knocked out and transforms into an intellectual.
The audience wakes up at the same time as Mikey and it is revealed that he has changed. Mikey walks with Shane as Mikey notices the flaws in society and how much better things would be if he was in charge. The tone begins to change as the anger of Mikey grows because things cannot be changed in his position and becomes arrogant, shouting at everyone to do better before going home.
At home, Mikey begins to stream on an online streaming service called “ItzLive” and gains a following overnight both out of agreement and mockery. Mikey does not care about this as any publicity is good publicity. Mikey then gets into local politicians and is ridiculed but taken in as a joke almost as a face of politics.
Mikey and Shane have an argument as Shane notices that Mikey is not being respected and attempts to tell Mikey what is happening to him. They argue and Mikey calls Shane “the dumbest person he knows” and how insignificant he is to him.
Mikey begins to then notice that he is not wanted in the world of politics and gets humiliated on live television, then realises that Shane was right all along and goes back to him for help reversing the intelligence he gained. Shane obliges as he “misses the old Mikey”. Much like how he got his intelligence, Mikey has his intelligence removed by a brick to the head and the ending is left ambiguous where Mikey awakes on the floor and the movie ends with them walking away with no music and a fade to black as they walk away from the camera.
The moral of this story is that ignorance is bliss, politics are terrible and society is a terrible place.
