The Janitor Treatment Sheet

Digital Media Board

image.PNG

This media board is a collection of pieces of media we all shared together on a group canvas.

The Janitor early Storyboard

This is one of the storyboards we all spoke about and drew up together. This represents our early plans for the short film and is somewhat different to the finished project.

Character Backstory sheet for the Janitor and Detective

20221123_163143.jpg

We had to come up with a character backstory sheet in case we were going to need it for plot reasons, almost all this information is never communicated to the audience.

Risk Assessment sheet for The Janitor

Arguably the most important part before the actual filming process, the risk assessment  gets an overview of all expected and unexpected problems that can arise. Despite these precautions people can and will still get injured if we are not careful. One member actually did get injured and spent a chunk of a filming session in the Accident and Emergency section of the local hospital.

Feedback Forms Obtained From The Screening

20221123_163214.jpg

A vital piece of feedback which gives us insight on what we did good on as well as how we can make our project better. The main criticism we got was that we ought to "tighten" some of the scenes which means to cut them shorter to start sooner and get into the action faster.

"Potential Shots" reference sheet

20221123_163104.jpg

Using a range of different shot types appropriately is a must to prestige from basic cinematography.

Equipment Booking Sheet

20221123_162924.jpg

Since we did not have any funding or need to purchase/rent out filming equipment, the college allows us to book out equipment with a request form that acts as a record of rental as well as an agreement as to where and when the equipment will be in our possession.

Group Meeting Record

A sheet that holds the details we spoke about in a formal meeting. This meeting was held on the 1st of November at 9:26.

Filming Schedule

A timetable of times we agreed on with the group to go out and film the scenes we needed.
Depicts time, place, equipment and crewmembers.

Feedback Sheet (2)

This feedback sheet tells us that some scenes went on for too long as well as focusing issues. This sheet also tells us that the story was not as clear enough to some people, but this is not an issue in my opinion nor one that can be solved as the plot is meant to be unravelled by the viewer.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT

This project took 3 weeks to make from start to finish and was lots of fun, I hope you enjoy watching this just as much as we enjoyed making "The Janitor."

Editing The Janitor in Premiere Pro

As co-editor, my partner and I spent a week of us both editing, taking turns until we got to the finished product above. We edited right down to the deadline, adding finishing touches with video effects and sound engineering. Through this project and previous, my editing skills have been on what I would consider a constant incline, watching tutorials and acquiring new techniques.

Here are some images to prove this:

Here I've demonstrated that I know how to cut and readjust audio to make the glitched sound effects for The Janitor. About half the total time of editing went into making unique audio clips to where I was happy.

I have also learnt how to create nested sequences, the next slide will go into more detail.

Group Communication

When it comes to cohesion, communication is key to keep the cogs creaking and creating content.

How I feel after all this...

Level 3 Yr 1 Creative Digital Media

"How do feel now its finished?"

After 4 weeks of fun, experimenting and stress, I can confidently say that I look forward to the next time I must make a production with my friends.

When things got hard, my friends came along to my rescue and helped me feel better as the emotional cost was too high for me to withstand whilst working on this.

I do not know exactly what I will do next time, but I do know it shall be different.
